5 Powerful Biblical Prayer To Help You Be A Better Man
There are Biblical Prayers for men that can help them heal. We live in a world where the value of the male man is being greatly undervalued. Because of this our men are in dire need for help. It makes sense that our men are under attack. The scriptures says that man in the glory of God. This tells that man is under attack by virtue of his identity.

When we look around we see a society impacted by the lack of a strong male presence. We see brokenness all around us. Broken homes, broken communities and broken churches have become an everyday reality. Yet this should never be so.

I believe that until the man stands up to his divine duty and begin to act in his place, our societies will remain like this, broken. This is because a special mantel has been placed in the hands of the man which is a divine act. No amount of disregarding or belittling can take this away because it is God ordained.

For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.

Men Need To Stand Up

There is no excuse on the part of the man. The male man must stand in his place regardless of the opposition he faces. Man has the authority to choose what he accepts and change what he doesn’t.

It is true that the principalities and the powers of darkness target our men, yet it is also true that no power can destroy a man fully submitted to God. Therefore the first duty of man is to submit to God. As a man submits to God the scripture will fulfill in his life that says; Submit yourself in the mighty hands of God and He will lift you up.

The good news is that it’s never too late for our men to go before the throne of God. We also need an active community of prayer warriors who will petition on their behalf.

There is Help

Amidst the great opposition, there is help for our men. This in itself is great hope. The Bible offers many prayers and verses that can help guide and inspire men to be better individuals.

You might be a man in need of help. Don’t be discouraged. In this post I want to share with you some Biblical prayers for men that will help you on your journey to restoration. Use them as a guiding light that points heavenward. I am assured that God will help you as you go before His throne. Let’s look at them.

5 Powerful Biblical Prayers To Help You Be A Better Man

1. The Lord's Prayer : Matthew 6 9 to 13

9 “This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10 your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us today our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’

Who better to learn from than Jesus Christ. He is our Lord and His example is most worthy. Jesus taught us this simple yet potent prayer. In this prayer we learn that it is important to acknowledge God’s will when it says “Your will be done.” It also teaches us to depend on God for our daily bread. This daily bread might be physical food but it might also be the spiritual bread that we need to fill our empty souls.

As men we should learn to pray in this manner. Remember that as we emulate Jesus Christ we will be most acceptable to God.

2. The Prayer of David

10. David praised the Lord in the presence of the whole assembly, saying, “Praise be to you, Lord, the God of our father Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. 11. Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. 12. Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all. 13 Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name.

As we consider Biblical prayers for men, we cannot leave out this prayer of David. David was a wise man who was regarded as a man after God’s own heart. If there is a person we should emulate it is David. David teaches us that even though we might falter God can restore us with His love. David was a man who committed great sin but this did not prevent him from both repenting and continuing the work of God.

The scripture here started by saying “David praised God in the presence of the whole assembly.”  David showed us that we should be confident with the profession of our faith. We should be proud of who we are as men of God.

David’s prayer was a praise unto God. David acknowledged God as having everlasting power and strength. David’s prayer was also a prayer of gratitude. He said “we give you thanks.” As men we should learn from this prayer. As we do this God will not only hear us, but He will also heal our broken hearts.

3. The Prayer of Jabez

"Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, 'Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.' And God granted his request."

Not much was mentioned about Jabez in the Bible. One thing that was mentioned was that Jabez was born in pain and that he was more honorable than his brothers. Reference was also made about the prayer Jabez prayed. In this prayer Jabez asked God to bless Him and enlarge his territory.

Though so brief, the Bible says that God blessed Jabez after he prayed this prayer. This proves to us that it is not in the many words that we pray, but from the heart with which we make our petitions. As men we should learn from Jabez, that as we pray in sincerity God will answer us. We should not be afraid to ask God to enlarge our territory. Our part to play is to be honorable in His sight.

4. The Prayer of Jonah

2. 1. Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the belly of the fish, 2. saying, “I called out to the Lord, out of my distress, and he answered me; out of the belly of Sheol I cried, and you heard my voice. 3. For you cast me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the flood surrounded me; all your waves and your billows passed over me. 4. Then I said, ‘I am driven away from your sight; yet I shall again look upon your holy temple.’ 5. The waters closed in over me to take my life; the deep surrounded me; weeds were wrapped about my head 6. at the roots of the mountains. I went down to the land whose bars closed upon me forever; yet you brought up my life from the pit, O Lord my God. 7. When my life was fainting away, I remembered the Lord, and my prayer came to you, into your holy temple. 8. Those who pay regard to vain idols forsake their hope of steadfast love. 9. But I with the voice of thanksgiving will sacrifice to you; what I have vowed I will pay. Salvation belongs to the Lord!

Jonah’s prayer came as a result of his disobedience. As men we should learn from Jonah. When we disobey God we might want to hide our faces from Him but here Jonah is showing us the right way to go. Regardless of our shame we should be confident to pray. We also learn through Jonah’s prayer that when we turn to God He is faithful to answer us even when we have been wrong.

Jonah’s situation was one that appeared impossible. For one Jonah was swallowed by a big fish and brought into the depths of the sea. It is not common for someone to return from such an impossible situation yet as Jonah prayed in sincerity the Bible says God caused the fish to spew him to the shore. Here we learn that God is a God of the impossible. There is no depths that God cannot reach with His love.

Maybe you are a man in an impossible situation. Don’t lose heart and never give up. The God of Jonah is the same God we serve today. He is able to speak to your situation to spew you out.

5. Solomon's Prayer for Wisdom

Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?”

Solomon is regarded as the wisest and richest man to ever walk the earth. In this prayer found in 1 Kings Solomon prayed to the Lord for an understanding heart. Not for self gratification but to be able to Judge God’s people. As men we have a great responsibility. We are called to lead the family and the church. Because of this we must have and understanding heart to be able to discern properly.

Be confident to ask God for wisdom to be a good leader.

Conclusion

These Biblical prayers for men are important because they teach us how to move the hands of God. It is by faith that we appease the grace of heaven. We also learn of the importance of prayer. Prayer is important because it is the way we communicate with our Father up in heaven.

As men we should learn how to pray right. This is because we are made as leaders and leaders need discernment and spiritual insight. These prayers all teach us that when we pray right God will answer us.

Don’t be afraid when you pray. I am fully convinced that as men go before the throne of God that He will hear us from His holy place. God eagerly wants to heal us but He is waiting on our prayerful praise. As you go remember that God’s hands are not short to reach you, neither is His ears hardened that He cannot hear your voice. God bless you.
