Scar Wars Battling For Healing And Deliverance

It is by default that we are in a battle. In this battle we are often exposed to what I term Scar Wars. Scar in the sense that we are often bruised with indelible wounds, and wars because it is indeed a battle for our spiritual sanity. As a result we must learn about this war in order to heal our scars – and to win.

The good news is that we can win this scar war if we use the right strategies. Firstly we must know we are in a battle – and then we must identify our enemies in order to defeat them. Knowledge of our opponent is pivotal for us to claim victory.

The Bible says For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places – Ephesians 6:12. This is the first step to victory, to know what type of battle we are in.

I wrote a blogpost the other day entitled “Nail Prints.” In scar wars, nail prints are quite visible. I discussed that the wounds that cut the deepest are ones we cannot see. These wounds have the capacity to decapitate us if we let them have their way. They are wounds that incise us as we partake of this battle we are in, and are also the major components in our scar wars.

It Is A Battle For The Mind

We are often mostly attacked in our minds. As a result, it is also in our minds that we are often scarred the most. It might seem like we are in a physical battle, but we must recognize that the true battle is in the spirit, in the mind. Also, satan is after our minds. Yet, if we do not allow him in our minds then he will never be able to defeat us.

No amount of water can sink a ship if it doesn’t get inside that ship. The most heavy waters will toss a ship, and push it back and forth, but if it doesn’t get into that ship, it will keep keeping on.

It is the same with us, as we press towards our marks. If we keep the enemy outside our minds then the enemy will never be able to defeat us. The enemy might bombard us with circumstances, and frustrate us from the outside, yet if that enemy can’t get into our minds then like a ship we will keep sailing on.

Keep sailing on. It is Christ that goes before you and constantly paves your way. Keep pressing. As you press you’ll learn the more – to endure. In my own experience, I have had to learn to keep my mind.

The Bible says that we should guard our hearts (minds) because everything we do comes from it. My true battle has always been in my mind. Often I have portrayed the widest smiles, yet in my mind I was wounded. This is because the true battle is the one we cannot see.

We must First Win In Our Minds

We must girth the loins of the muscles of our minds. This is done by believing what God says wholeheartedly. As we believe God He armours us with the weapons of our warfare.

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

The battle is first won in the mind. Because we are in a battle we will be constantly attacked. Yet, we have a shield that can help us in our need. The Bible terms this shield the shield of faith. It is able to stop the attacks of satan as we use it to defend us.

The way we use this shield is to believe the word of God. To be safe we must not compromise on this Word. We must believe it for what it says regardless of what others think or the standards we will go against. As we do this we will be wearing our shields properly.

There have been times in my life when evil thoughts have attacked my mind. “You are not good enough,” “You are a failure,” “You are the worst,” are just some of bullets that satan has fired at me.

The power I have against these bullets is the truth of the Word of God. To defend myself, I recite His truth in my heart. I remind myself that “I am a child of God,” “There is therefore no condemnation,” and that “I am God’s handiwork.”

Having faced them, I can say that these thoughts are diabolically wicked. They’ll constantly knock on the doors of our minds. Yet we should stand guard with the confidence and courage based on the Word of God.

We should always remind ourselves of who and whose we are. When satan comes to lie to us we should be certain to go back to the Word. The Psalmist said “Thy Word have I hidden in my heart that I might not sin against Thee.”

Be Patient In Continuing

It is sometimes frustrating to be going around the same mountain all the time. Fighting the same demons, and wrestling with the same chains is a troubling experience. Yet we must be patient in continuing. Step by step we must go, and with the water of encouragement we must grow.

We must also know that our patience is a weapon in the spirit. The Bible says that they that wait on the Lord will renew their strength. In the scar wars of life we must recognize that God will come to our rescue as we hold on and exercise patience in continuing. When we do this we move the frustration towards the enemy.

We must frustrate the enemy with our faith.

You have what It takes to endure. Don’t you ever give up. As you trust God, He is at work. God is in the background fighting for you. Even when we cannot see Him, He is there. It is not His fault if we do not see Him, it is ours. This is because God is ever present.

We should also know that as we press, the best is yet to come. He says He knows the plans He has towards us. To give us an amazing future filled with hope. Won’t we trust Him when we are scarred – in  scar wars.

There Is Healing In The Word Of God

He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions.

The Bible says that the Word of God is sharp and quick, and able to cut our soul and spirit. Such pure words have the ability to heal us. The truth is that words have power to make us whole.

As we ponder on the Word, we should allow it to do the spiritual surgeries required to transform us. The Word of God can make the incisions needed to dissect our wounds and the mending necessary to seal them.

This Word has the ability to dig deep inside us and reach places that nothing else can. It is able to correct the lies that have caused our scars from the first place.

As we go we should learn these words and recite them over our lives. While we do this God will heal us by His Mighty Right Hand.

The Psalmist said “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” This Word has the ability to guide you to your healing thus you must feed on it without measure.

You Can Wage War Against The Enemy

We can attack the enemy as he attacks us. If we remain passive the enemy will constantly wound us. Therefore, we must learn to attack him in return. The way we do this is by standing firm on the Word of God and declaring it against this evil one.

If we consider for a little we’ll realize how much pain the enemy has caused in our lives and the lives of others around us. The world is filled with pain because of this diabolic creature.

On this basis, we must be active warriors against him. The Bible says that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty to the pulling down of strong holds. So what are these weapons?

Let us look at what the Bible teaches us about the weapons of our warfare.

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.

In this scripture we learn about the weapons of our warfare. One such weapon is the sword of the spirit, which is the Word of God. When we dig deeper we find that a sword is an offensive weapon. It is used to attack. We can and must use this sword at our disposal to attack the enemy as he attacks us.

In Scar Wars, Our prayer and praise are our greatest weapons

Prayer and praise are also weapons in the spirit. When we pray and praise we create havoc in the enemies camp. We must lift up our voices and our spirits and praise the Lord. Praise Him until the enemy gets confused and know not what to do. We must be joyful in continuing and forever praise and worship our Great High Priest.

Prayer, like praise, is lethal towards the enemy. Oh, may we dwell in prayer and praise.

Scar Wars

It’s by default we are in a battle,

A battle for the mind.

Yet we must win this battle,

That we have been assigned.

It’s a battle of scars,

In this battle that wars.

Yet we must prevail to win,

And sit in the battle we are in.

Scar wars, when wounds dig deep,

A battle that continues even when we sleep.

Yet He keeps us, and goes where we go,

And He sees our scars as they grow.

Are you scarred? and marred? and can’t carry on?

His Love shines more bright than the dawn.

So carry on, and on, and know He knows,

For for you and I King Jesus Rose.

A Poem By: Orlando Rowe

As we face the scars of the war we are in we must learn how to battle for our healing and deliverance. This is because we are in a real spiritual battle that requires our efforts in the spirit.

Some things we can count on are the weapons of our warfare. The Bible explains that these weapons will help us in our need. Some of them include the shield of faith and the helmet of salvation. We can also use the sword of the spirit (which is the word of God) to help us to fight the enemy.

As we go we must always remember that God wants to heal us in our brokenness. We must trust Him that as we hurt He will lead us beside still waters. I pray you be blessed.
